After months and months of hard work, blood, sweat, tears, and a lot of lessons learned {refer to my last master bathroom update}, the biggest DIY project we've ever attempted is FINALLY complete, and we couldn't be happier with it! It was a long road getting to this point, but the finished product turned out just as luxurious as we imagined in the beginning.
The two most important lessons I learned along the way:
1. I will never attempt a project this major again {unless maybe I have no job and can work on it all day, every day. and even then, probably not}. I think both Matt + agree that while it did save us a decent amount of money, it was not really worth the time and stress that we had to deal with for over 9 months. Maybe worth it to some. Not worth it to me. I'm all about quick turn-arounds on my projects now! {stay tuned for a quick Powder Room makeover in the works}
2. I can do it! And if I can't do it, then I can learn to do it by watching videos on YouTube! During this project, I learned how to: remove tile, replace a wooden subfloor, frame out a shower floor, bench + wall niche, remove drywall, replace drywall (wall + ceiling), install an exhaust fan + can lights, wire electric for said fan and can lights, tile + grout a floor, and install a vanity, countertop + trim. Not to mention the countless power tools I learned to use for the first time!
Without further ado, here is our BEFORE:
And, here is our AFTER:
It may be hard to tell from the pictures, but not one thing in the whole bathroom is original. It was completely gutted and updated. Good-bye dated tub, tiny shower + rotting subfloor! Hello dream bathroom with rain shower head + pretty glass tile! I love you.
Thanks for reading guys!
