Brunch + Gift Exchange at Winflo

The holiday season was so good for us this year!  The whole month of December was busy, but filled with festive memories with family and friends - both in Austin as well as Chicago.  One of my favorite traditions is the gift exchange I do with my girlfriends each year.  It originated back in 2010 - our first Christmas together in Okinawa - and has been going ever since.  Being that we had no family to spend the holidays with over in Japan, these girls became like family, and I love that we still have our little traditions no matter where we are living now.

This year, I was lucky enough to have my friend Amanda actually living here in Austin for our Christmas gift exchange, so we decided to make a morning of it and do brunch.  We had both been eyeing this adorable place downtown on west Sixth called Winflo.  The perfect place for brunch, Winflo is located in an old house-turned-restaurant {a popular trend in Austin}, and it literally felt like we were dining in someone's home.  I loved the neutral colors, the rustic simplicity and all of the details that went into the design.  The intimate feel, the natural shiplap walls, the industrial light fixtures - it was my kind of place:)  Even the bathroom was cute {scroll down for obligatory bathroom selfie}.  And the flavor and presentation of the food wasn't too shabby either.  Winflo is definitely one of Austin's finest I've been to so far, and it made for such a nice winter morning with one of my favorite girls!
